I am currently trying to buy a house in which Cartus is involved as the relocation agent for the seller. It has been a nightmare.

This isn't my first time buying a house, so I know how smoothly this process ought to go. Instead, Cartus drowns you in redundant and incorrect paperwork. They are extremely slow to respond to anything, and have many people involved without any of them being on the same page. Cartus's only interest is in covering Cartus's ***.

Cartus is so slow, ***, and inflexible that I'm now forced to push my closing date back.

What's worse is that it's getting pushed back to a date later than I need to be out of my rental, which is causing me a world of pain. If I had any idea how terrible they would be to work with, I would have run away from this house.

The next time I am in the home buying market I will immediately exclude anything that Cartus is involved with. No matter how nice the house is, it's just not worth week after week of mind-numbing frustration.

Location: Herndon, Virginia

Cartus owes me 2 thousand dollars in payments and hasn't paid me for the past 7 moths. When we finally feel that the payment will be made, they just turn around and make up a new excuse.

This is literally a dishonest company which is not able to deal with the volume of work which is given them.

I made an offer on a house with Cartus and it's been a negative experience so far. I think the issue is they are just sitting in offices and have NO CLUE of the real estate market.

It's surprising they are as big as they are considering how shady their business runs.

I must say, these comments are alarming. I am currently dealing with Cartus as the buyer of a home they represent. My situation is not unique however it does have extremely tight deadlines.ร‚ย

So far Cartus has been there for me. I was contacted by Jon Wyatt within 1 hour of my initial call and then put in contact with someone who is working on the case. As any situation has I will need to allow procedural details to be completed and I expect that however I fully intend on making my close.ร‚ย

Cartus is a large company comprised of great people. Its important to remember that. I will hold them accountable to doing everything they can to get the job done. It is up to me to remain diligent and kind in dealing with these maters. The one thing I'm not sure anyone takes into account is that many of these homes that Cartus represents are experiencing substantial looses. That has to be taken into account because that money needs to come from somewhere, it's not the type of thing that can be done immediatly at times.

I certainly feel the pain of everyone that has commented or been through a negative experience. Your issues are real and you were effected greatly.ร‚ย

My goal in dealing with Cartus is to hold them to the high standard that they represent. I believe in them and the process and will do everything I can to assist them in the process.ร‚ย

Cartus has done right by me and my family to this point. If those conditions change then that means that the process is fundamentally flawed and it will be changed. People together have great power. Use that power to change things positively, otherwise we may find ourselves just waiting time.

Wow, glad I found this and other information on the web regarding problems with Cartus. Cartus is now on day 3 of signing and returning the offer to buy which is pretty lame.

Especially true since we are not countering the price they offerd???

I put in a call to Jon Wyatt to see if we're in for a bad bumpy ride on this deal and if so, we might bail out before we start spending money on closing costs. Plenty of good homes for sale - we don't need to buy this one.

I am attempting to purchase a house from Cartus. I agreed to the seller's counteroffer almost two weeks ago.

Up to that point everything went smoothly. Then Cartus got involved. They have sat on the paperwork for two weeks, promised to send it in 24 hours and didn't, and reading above, I suspect this trend will continue.

I am tempted to bag it at this point even though I really like the house. There is too much at stake to deal with a company that plays games and doesn't care about representing their seller and whether the seller loses a buyer because of unnecessary delays.

Oh Great!! My husband and I are in negotiations to buy a house being sold by Cartus and I wish I had read this before getting involved.

So far we are in early stages but with market like it is, cannot understand why on earth this company does business this way. Love the house but don't want to deal with what you all are talking about

I also have been trying to buy a house from Cartus for 7 months going on 8 months, have down payment ready and have been approve for balance, but as yet Cartus has not agreed to sale, it has been one more piece of paper work and don't brother to call Jon Wyatt as he says, because he doesn't return your call. I would not recommend anyone going through Cartus to move or relocate because you will come out on the short end.

My situation is current and very similar. I talked to John wyatt from cartus today.

It seems they (John) is at least listening to the feedback but the response is unclear. I am an experienced real estate buyer and could have never imagined how bad the process could be until I found a cart us property. He gave me his name and number today but also has mine.

It will be interesting to see if he follows up. More to come.....

We have a pending offer on a Cartus home, that is supposed to close in a few weeks. I love the home, but the bank appraisal came in lower than the offer we made.

We cant get Cartus to say onte way or another, if they wil renegotiate the price to match the appraisal, and we cant wait forever. We have good credit and a good downpayment, but the house needs works and we need the rest of our available case to fix it. We arent going to buy a house for more than a fair appraisal, but we cant get anything back from them.

I will hate to lose the houe, but time is running out. Frustrating it is.

We too are involved in purchasing a Cartus home. Made offer on 1/7/11, agreed to their counter on 1/10, and still are waiting on them to sign a purchase agreement. I'm ready to walk away from this house and let them continue to pay for it.

I couldn't agree with your post more. We are currently in process of buying a house with Cartus, not only are they requiring needless paperwork, they have been slow to get inspection work performed on the home that they have known about for months.

Also, we contacted them to move up closing a few days and they agreed to it however they failed to notify their title company until the day before the closing and we were unable to close as we had agreed upon. As a company that has its home in possession you are losing money on that home each day you have it, why do you make it so hard on the buyer to close?
